Shanna LaMar has served as the Executive Director of Washington DECA since August 2006. She works closely with the Board of Directors in implementing the strategic goals of the organization while serving as both the Chief Executive and Chief Financial Officer of the Association. In her development role, she organizes, manages, and directs all fundraising programs for gifts, grants, and pledges from individuals, corporations, and foundations. Shanna and her husband Brent reside in Seattle and enjoy golfing, downhill skiing, and travel.
Kelly Ambrose has served as the Program Director since June 2007. She coordinates large conferences and events, recruits volunteers and supports DECA’s educational partners and members. She is responsible for determining the conference programming, theme and collateral, managing the conference budget and working directly with educators, the multimedia company, vendors, speakers and volunteers. Kelly and her husband Wade spend their free time with their son Cole, playing softball, gardening and spending time with family and friends.
Megan Sun McIntosh joined Washington DECA as the Director of Development and Volunteer Management in August 2008. She is responsible for building partnerships and relationships with key funding sources to support the organization, through individual, corporate, and in-kind giving, as well as by securing grants. In addition, she recruits volunteers to serve as competition judges for the State Career Development Conference, manages and recruits volunteer judges for the the Fall Leadership Conference, and manages the annual Champions’ Celebration Luncheon. Megan enjoys spending time with her husband Ryan and daughters Finley and Cecilia, coaching summer swimming and spending time with friends and family.
Nancy Hanlon joined Washington DECA in June 2009 as Office Services Coordinator. In this capacity, she manages conference registration, membership, and financial accountability, and she provides support services to the WA DECA advisors. Prior to joining WA DECA, Nancy served as Educational Programs Manager for The Data Warehousing Institute (TDWI) for over eight years, and from 1983–2000 she taught Family and Consumer Science Education (FACSE) in the Highline School District. She is the proud parent of three great kids—two in college and one in middle school.
Hoan serves as the Leadership Development Coordinator for Washington DECA. He is responsible for leading and mentoring our elected student leaders as well as the development of the student leadership training programs. Hoan is a past DECA alumni from Decatur High School in Federal Way. As a student he qualified for the International Career Development Conference with the School Based Enterprise project. He graduated from Pepperdine University in Malibu, California and is the author of Succeeding in the Real World.
Ron Cooper is responsible for Advisor Development, guiding and mentoring new advisors. Ron Cooper has been involved with DECA since high school and spent over 35 years in the classroom as a teacher. He’s familiar with all phases of DECA. He’s been lucky enough to have students selected to be the International DECA President and Western Region Vice President. DECA competitions have been an exciting part of his teaching career. His strengths in events range from individual competitions to written projects. These events include; sports and entertainment, retail operations (student store) and a three year marketing program. He is proud to have designed student stores and brought them to six figure operations.
Patty joined the Washington DECA staff in January 2010. She manages the Fall Leadership Conference marketing fair. She brings a combination of technology, organizational skills and common sense to her position as Administrative Assistant. She also works part-time as a fitness professional at an Edmonds, Washington athletic club. She enjoys golf, long walks, reading and working out. She and her husband, Bruce have two grown daughters.
